Milwaukee Bucks rumors: We are now just roughly three weeks away before training camp starts but at this point, Damian Lillard still remains with the Portland Trail Blazers. The seven-time All-NBA point guard has made his intentions to leave Portland abundantly clear, as well as his desire to join the Miami Heat. However, for one reason or another, nothing has yet to come to fruition.
No Movement on Damian Lillard Trade Front
At this point, it is clear that trade negotiations between the Blazers and the Heat have hit a major wall. There appears to be no recent movement on the same with neither side willing to budge. Portland obviously wants a monumental haul in exchange for their cornerstone superstar and it seems that Pat Riley and the Miami front office are just unwilling to give in to the Blazers’ lofty demands.
According to NBA guru Shams Charania, Lillard will only report to either the Blazers or the Heat for training camp. This does not bode well for any other team out there that might be thinking of swooping in at the 13th hour. Nevertheless, while it may be improbable, the fact is that nothing is impossible at this point.
Milwaukee Bucks Seen as Potential Landing Spot for Damian Lillard
If you ask NBA insider Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, one team that could be a dark horse to land Damian Lillard would be the Milwaukee Bucks. Vecenie himself admitted that he is unsure if his proposed “four-team monstrosity” even makes sense, but in terms of fit, the analyst believes that Milwaukee presents itself as a truly viable destination for Portland’s want-away superstar:
“I think Milwaukee might be the team that makes the most sense other than Miami maybe [to trade for Lillard], if they were willing to move Jrue,” Vecenie said. “I don’t know if I would move Jrue. Honestly I probably would for Dame but Jrue is such an intrinsic part of their culture”
Bucks fans will definitely agree that Jrue Holiday has become such an important member of the squad over the years. In fact, more than a few folks will support the notion that he is the most prominent Buck outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
At the same time, though, very few, if any, will argue that Dame Lillard is a generational talent. He may be nearing the twilight of his career, but if the Bucks are somehow able to pair him alongside Giannis this coming season, then it would instantly make Milwaukee a strong title contender. And as we all know, this is what matters the most for Antetokounmpo.
