The Los Angeles Lakers were heavily linked to in-demand Detroit Pistons veteran sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic prior to last season’s trade deadline. Nothing came to fruition on that front, though, and the 6-foot-7 forward still remains to be a Piston to this day.
Well, Lee Tran of Fadeaway World imagines a sensational trade scenario wherein LA finally gets their man.
Los Angeles Lakers Land Bojan Bogdanovic in Intriguing Trade Proposal
Tran believes that it should be a “no-brainer” for the Lakers to trade for Bogdanovic. In order to get him, they will need to give up quite a haul, though. Here are the details of the proposed deal:
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Bojan Bogdanovic
Detroit Pistons Receive: D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis, 2024 Second-Round Pick, 2025 Second-Round Pick
The Lakers lose a whole lot in this deal, but at the end of the day, it should be worth it.
“There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers need another consistent offensive player to keep up with teams like the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. In theory, that player should also be comfortable operating in an off-ball role, and willing to defer to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Bojan Bogdanovic definitely fits the bill in that regard,” Tran wrote.
Bogdanovic should take on the starting PF position alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the frontcourt. New recruit Gabe Vincent should slot in at one of the guard positions with D’Angelo Russell out of the picture along with Austin Reaves in a new-look LA backcourt.
Pistons Load Up Back Court With D’Angelo Russell Addition
The big prize for the Pistons here is D’Angelo Russell. The arrival of the former All-Star does cause a bit of a logjam for Detroit’s backcourt with Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and rookie Ausar Thompson all in the mix. As such, the Pistons could opt to move D-Lo by expanding this deal to a three-team trade or perhaps ship him off prior to the 2023-24 trade deadline.
Either way, Detroit should get more future-facing assets in exchange for Russell, which they can add to the two future second-round picks they got from LA. Rookie Maxwell Lewis is no star, but he slots right into the Pistons’ current timeline. Not a bad haul in exchange for Bogdanovic, who has just two years remaining in his contract.
