Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Donte DiVincenzo got himself paid. After opting to decline his player option with the Golden State Warriors for the 2023-24 season, the 26-year-old officially entered NBA free agency. On Saturday, it was confirmed that he had agreed to a deal with the New York Knicks to the tune of $50 million for four years.
There’s no denying that Warriors fans were sad to see DiVincenzo move on to greener pastures after a noteworthy campaign with the Dubs this past season. The same can be said for his now-ex-Golden State teammates, which also include former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green. The Warriors talisman, however, was also extremely proud of Donte for getting what he deserves.
Donte DiVincenzo Agrees To Four-Year, $50 Million Deal With New York Knicks

After multiple reports linking DiVincenzo to the Knicks, both parties finally agreed on a number on Saturday. It was a massive amount too, with Donte set to pocket roughly $12.5 million per year — a far cry from the $4.5 million he earned with the Warriors last year.
While I’m pretty sure that he’s also a bit down now that it’s confirmed that DiVincenzo is officially on his way out, Draymond Green was also totally hyped for his buddy. Dray took to Twitter to share his pumped reaction to Donte getting the bag with the Knicks (h/t NBA News reporter Angelo Guinhawa):

Green also sent a special shoutout to Ty Jerome, who himself secured a $5 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers for two years.
Donte DiVincenzo’s Milwaukee Homecoming Just Wasn’t To Be

There’s no denying that some Bucks fans were hoping that somehow, Donte DiVincenzo would find his way home back to the same team that gave him his first shot in the league. This was back in 2018 when Milwaukee used their No. 17 pick to scoop up the former Villanova standout in the NBA Draft. Obviously, DiVincenzo has come a long way since he first started in the league. He’s also going to be a much richer man in the coming years.
If Milwaukee really did do their due diligence on DiVincenzo then they probably figured out early on that they couldn’t afford him. After signing Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez for a combined $150 million, they simply had no room to accommodate Donte’s $50 million deal — one that the Knicks were more than happy to put on the table for a player that they believe will have a significant impact on their squad in the coming years.
