The Milwaukee Bucks are not expected to trade Khris Middleton, even though he declined his $40.3 million player option. In fact, more and more reports are surfacing that the belief around the NBA is that both Middleton and Brook Lopez will return to Milwaukee.
Things are not as straight-forward elsewhere in the league, though. Portland Trailblazers star Damian Lillard is unhappy with the team, per reports, and would entertain a trade to the Miami Heat.
Colin Cowherd, the controversial podcast host who is always looking to stir the pot, has a different idea.
Colin Cowherd Says the Milwaukee Bucks Should Trade Khris Middleton for Damian Lillard
During his show today, Cowherd rambled about how the Heat are actually not a good fit for Lillard. His argument, for once, actually makes sense. He states that the guard-heavy Heat would not provide Lillard with the adequate support that he needs.
Sure, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo would form a great Big Three with him, but a team can only play so many guards.
Instead, Cowherd suggests the the Bucks would be a better destination for Lillard, and the player the Bucks would give up: Khris Middleton.
The Bucks, not the Heat are the right fit for Damian Lillard…

Now in this video, Cowherd makes some questionable points. First, he says “Maybe it’s because Milwaukee had a bad season.” Sir, the Bucks finished the top seed in the Eastern Conference. The exit from the NBA Playoffs was disappointing, but the season was far from bad.
Second, he suggests that the Bucks trade Middleton AND Jrue Holiday for Dame and a younger player. Now, there may be those that get excited about this idea, but it is not as great as it may seem. Jrue Holiday was an All-Star last year and First Team All NBA Defensive Team.
No young player that Milwaukee would receive in return would be as good as Holiday is for the Bucks. Not even close.
In the end it is only a hypothetical and it will never happen. While Giannis Antetokounmpo has expressed interest in playing with Dame before, he also has expressed his love and desire to continue playing with Middleton and Holiday.
Interestingly, a lot of fans have expressed the desire to move on from Middleton because of his injuries. Fun fact: Lillard has played a grand total of 87 games over the last two seasons; Middleton has played 99.
