NBA news: After a drama-filled offseason, former NBA big man Nikola Mirotic has now found a new home. The 32-year-old saw his contract with Barcelona terminated earlier this summer despite still having two years remaining on the deal. Mirotic has now signed with a new team as he takes his talents to Italy.

According to a report by EuroHoops, Mirotic has now decided to sign with Olimpia Milano in a deal that will see him suit up for the defending Italian champions through 2026. Mirotic, who won the 2022 EuroLeague MVP title with Barcelona, joins Olimpia Milano behind averages of 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Before joining the Italian side, reports circulated that Mirotic was headed to Serbia to join Partizan. However, Milano officials did all they can to recruit the 6-foot-10 big man. They got their wish, and Mirotic is now officially an Olimpia Milano player.

“I’m happy to become part of this big family that is Olimpia Milano and to be able to contribute to making this team and this prestigious club ever more competitive. I will try to do my best to reward the trust that Mr. Armani and President Dell’Orco have shown me. I’m also very happy to be back playing for Coach Messina, who I met when I was starting out. I’m sure next season will be a fun season, and our fans will be proud of us,” Mirotic said.

The last time we saw Nikola Mirotic on an NBA court was in 2019 with the Milwaukee Bucks. He arrived in Milwaukee as part of a three-team trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. The former first-round pick, however, ended up playing just 14 games for the Bucks before the team decided not to renew his deal that summer. In his brief stint with the Bucks, Mirotic averaged 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, while also connecting on 2.2 triples per game on a 35.6-percent clip.
