MLB News: Trea Turner is currently in year one of an 11 year, $300 MM contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. Unfortunately it has been a very uncharacteristic season for him and over the weekend he was demoted to eighth in the batting lineup. Despite his struggles, lineup demotion, and playing in a city that is historically tough on it’s players, he received a standing ovation from Phillies fans.
According to Trea Turner this kind gesture from Phillies fans was enough to make his mother shed a few tears. Realizing that this is a very unusual circumstance he decided to thank the fans in a unique way.
