Milwaukee Brewers Rumors: The MLB trade deadline is less than one month away and is an exciting time in baseball. This year the Brew Crew are again in playoff position and should be buyers at the trade deadline.
2023 is the Brewers first season with new General Manager Matt Arnold calling the shots. He was heavily involved in the decision making process when David Stearns was at the helm, but this year he gets the final say. Comments from a recent interview with him suggests that Milwaukee will be quiet at this year’s trade deadline.

Milwaukee Brewers Rumors: Comments from GM Matt Arnold suggests a quiet trade deadline.
“We will be opportunistic to try to improve this team where we can, responsibly, but ultimately, I think we have a lot of good players here and even others coming back off the IL led by somebody like Brandon Woodruff, who is a really exciting player to add as a Deadline addition. Aaron Ashby, I think there’s a chance that he comes back later in the season. Justin Wilson is throwing the ball really well right now. Tyrone Taylor isn’t that far off. So just more guys coming back. I think those could also be quality additions to a team that we certainly already believe in.”
Matt Arnold saying “he will be opportunistic to try to improve the team” is a page right out of the David Stearns book. He isn’t saying the team will be aggressive but he also isn’t indicating that they will be dormant. More than likely a small move or two will be the Brewers outcome at the trade deadline while not sacrificing young prospects.
“It’s always a balance there with how much future value you want to push into just one season, especially in a market like ours. We want to be responsible. We want to be competitive here for a long time.
We’re proud of all the work that our group has done here with our player development. Our scouting, both international and domestic, have done a tremendous job stocking our system, and we’re seeing really, really good signs of that. Some very exciting players there who we think have a chance to impact our team here for a very long time. So it’s always a balance with how much you want to push into just one season versus the opportunity to have those guys here and be quality Brewers here for a long time. That’s what I mean by that responsibility piece of that.”
Additional big trade deadline news revealed from Matt Arnold is that he is not interested in trading Corbin Burnes or Willy Adames. It is apparent that he really likes this team and will be relying heavily upon players already in the organization to propel them back into the post season. All of this signifies that Milwaukee likely won’t make any blockbuster deals at this years trade deadline.
