MLB News: The Chicago White Sox have elected to clean house prior to the 2023 season ending.  Amidst clubhouse dysfunction and under achieving owner Jerry Reinsdorf has fired executive vice president Ken Williams and general manager Rick Hahn.  This has left them in need of someone new to lead their baseball operations.

Three candidates to lead the Chicago White Sox baseball operations (MLB News).

Jon Morosi of MLB network listed three candidates to take over baseball operations for the White Sox.  Here are the three that he mentioned.

    • Chris Getz – Chicago White Sox Assistant GM

The first person mentioned is the top White Sox internal candidate Chris Getz.  Talking about a replacement who is currently with the organization makes one pause given the friction currently inside the walls, but Chris Getz is a true professional and was also drafted and played two big league seasons with the team.

    • James Click – Toronto Blue Jays VP of Strategy

Last offseason James Click was famously let go by the World Series winning Houston Astros with the primary reason being both sides unable to agree on a long term deal.  A gig with the White Sox could provide him with just that and he could also help lead Chicago back into the post season.

    • Preston Mattingly – Philadelphia Phillies executive

The Phillies have experienced a good amount of success and Mattingly has worn quite a few hats in the organization including most recently heading up the farm system and being Director of Player development.  He is an external candidate ready to take the next step.

Jerry Reinsdorf hopes to have a leader of baseball operations in place by the end of the season.  This gives him a timeline of about five weeks.
