President of baseball operations David Stearns gets brutally honest on the differences between working for the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers.
“This is a fundamentally different job. Yes the subject matter is still baseball and what I’m responsible for is more or less the same thing, but there are different aspects of the job. There’s clearly more media, there’s more non baseball stuff, it’s a much bigger front office. All of those things are very different. I feel it everyday. You adjust. I learn things everyday. Now 5 months in I feel more accustomed than I did on day one.”
-David Stearns
David Stearns also discussed hiring manager Carlos Mendoza and pursuing Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
SNY’s Gary Cohen and Ron Darling also asked Stearns about hiring manager Carlos Mendoz and pursing Yoshinobu Yamamoto this winter. Stearns talked about the connection he had with Mendoz and how it was easy to talk about baseball things with him. He also indicated that the Mets will make splashy moves in the future but when the time is right and for the right player.

He took the 2023 season off from that role and served as an advisor to current Brewers GM Matt Arnold.
