Tyler Herro will be unavailable for the Miami Heat on Tuesday when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks at the Kaseya Center. The former Sixth Man of the Year winner is set to miss his 10th consecutive game due to a lingering ankle injury.
The Heat, however, have provided an optimistic update on the status of their star shooting guard ahead of their highly-anticipated showdown against Milwaukee.
Tyler Herro Set to Return Soon?
Herro sustained his injury in early November and he has since been out of action for nearly three weeks. The good news here, though is that according to team insider Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Herro is now closing in on his return to action:
“The expectation is Herro will miss at least another week before returning to game action after his ankle was re-evaluated over the weekend,” Chiang wrote.
One week is still one week, but the fact that Herro now has a somewhat definitive timetable is a crucial development for the team.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra spoke to the media after Monday’s practice and while he refused to pencil in a date for Herro’s return, the NBA champion shot-caller did hint that the 23-year-old is close:
“It’s trending in the right direction,” Spoelstra said.
Heat Shorthanded Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
As for Tuesday’s showdown, however, Herro will need to watch his team battle the Bucks from the sidelines. He will be joined by Jimmy Butler, who is also out with an ankle problem.
Bam Adebayo, who himself is dealing with a hip injury, has been cleared to play, so he will obviously need to do much of the heavy lifting for Miami on Tuesday night.
