Entering the night, the Milwaukee Bucks were the number two seed in the Eastern Conference and the Boston Celtics were the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. With Milwaukee on their home floor, they blew Boston out of the water by a final score of 135-102.
The Bucks had a massive lead in the game in the third quarter that the TNT broadcast switched the game. The fact that this was supposed to be a showdown and it turned into a blowout, it showed that Milwaukee sent a message to Boston.
The Milwaukee Bucks wanted to show they were supreme contenders in the Eastern Conference along with the Boston Celtics. Yes, Boston is still in first with a 29-9 record and Milwaukee is still in second with a 26-12 record, but the Bucks showed they can win the East this season and get to the NBA Finals.
Bobby Portis Jr. led the way for the Bucks with 28 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for Milwaukee. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, recorded six assists, blocked one shot, and recorded one steal. Damian Lillard also added 21 points for the Bucks. This basketball team was ready to go from the opening tip-off.
As for Boston, Jayson Tatum only scored seven points and Jaylen Brown scored 10 points. Payton Prichard was their leading scorer off the bench with 21 points. This is a game that the Celtics will want to forget about. Everyone has been talking about Boston coming out of the East, but Milwaukee deserves to be in the spotlight again after this massive win for them.
Ernie Johnson of TNT Says Something Funny About the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks Matchup
When the Celtics and the Bucks were a massive blowout, Johnson of TNT had something funny to say about the game. He said:
“So, this game is out of hand, obviously. 100–62. And Oklahoma City, by the way, is up 36 at the half, so we’re not going there. So, we’ll try the Knicks and the Mavs, and it’s a 47–28 game.”
There were a lot of reactions on Twitter after the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks game were switched from the TNT broadcast. The NBA has five games on Thursday night and it seemed like all of them were blowouts. The Bucks deserve some respect on Friday after man handling the Celtics.
