The Detroit Pistons gave the Milwaukee Bucks a real run for their money on Saturday night. The Bucks needed a 45-point season-high explosion from Damian Lillard to carve out a 141-135 win — and this was despite the fact that Detroit did not have their best player available.
Cade Cunningham has been out of action for the Pistons for a while now as the former No. 1 overall pick continues to deal with a lingering knee injury. Detroit has already released their injury report for Monday’s rematch against the Bucks, and it appears that Cunningham has a small chance of returning to action against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.
Cade Cunningham Doubtful to Play Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Cunningham’s official status for Monday’s bout is that he is doubtful to play due to a left knee strain. He has missed six straight games because of this issue, and it’s very much possible that he will sit out a seventh consecutive game on Monday against Milwaukee.
Then again, the fact that he’s listed as doubtful means that there is a chance — albeit considerably small — he is able to return on Monday after a lengthy layoff.
The Pistons should provide a final update on their star point guard’s status closer to tip-off.
In 36 games played this season, Cunningham has averaged a career-high 22.8 points on 44.9 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists (also a career-high), and 1.0 steals in 34.5 minutes per contest. The third-year guard is also knocking down 1.9 triples per game on a 33.5-percent clip.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Pops Up on Injury Report
The Bucks, on the other hand, are also waiting for final confirmation on Giannis’ status for Monday’s game. He is still dealing with a shoulder injury, which now has him listed as probable to play against the Pistons.
While there is a chance that Antetokounmpo sits out in their rematch against Detroit — just like he did on Wednesday in a blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers — the fact that he is considered probable means that it’s likely that he will be available come Monday night.
