The Green Bay Packers are looking to take their next step towards being serious Super Bowl contenders after they unexpectedly made the NFL Playoffs as a seventh seed and upset the Dallas Cowboys on Wild Card weekend. They are banking on young stars led by quarterback Jordan Love to be even better in their second season on field, as well as continued contributions from their veterans.
Additionally, the Packers made rare splashes in free agency this offseason, signing the top safety (Xavier McKinney) and running back (Josh Jacobs) that were on the market. However, they also made the decision to sign one of their own free agents to a multi-year deal in order to keep his services within the organization.
The Green Bay Packers Signed All-Pro Kick Returner Keisean Nixon to a 3-Year Deal
Earlier this offseason, the Packers signed Nixon to a three-year $18 million contract. Previously, Nixon had spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Green Bay playing on a pair of one-year deals.
In his two seasons with the Packers, Nixon has been named the NFL’s First Team All-Pro kick returned twice. He has led the league in kickoff returns and kickoff return yards in both seasons, eclipsing 1,000 return yards in 2022.
In addition to his special teams contributions, Nixon was also the Packers’ starting nickel cornerback last season. He is expected to return to this role in 2024 unless he is outplayed by one of the young safeties Green Bay drafted in this year’s NFL Draft.
Green Bay Packers Special Teams Coordinator Rich Bisaccia Adores Keisean Nixon
As many fans are aware, Nixon was first brought to Green Bay on the suggestion of special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, who coached the now two-time All-Pro during his days with the Las Vegas Raiders.
During a recent interview, Bisaccia had all the praise in the world for his kick returner, saying that he absolutely adores him:

“I absolutely adore Keisean Nixon. You know, I have since the first day I went to pro day at South Carolina and watched him run. He ran a four-three-eight. I went there to see somebody else.
“You know his story. He’s been to like four high schools and junior college, and then his mom getting sick, and she fights the roller coaster of cancer up and down. And we got out to Vegas and it’s exciting for him, and she was as sick as she’s ever been.
“So, I know it seems I’m making this answer long, but I love Keisean Nixon. And I also adore the player.”
Bisaccia went on to praise Nixon’s maturation as a player and as a person during his time in Green Bay. He also credits head coach Matt LaFleur for creating a culture that allows for players to be themselves without any fear of judgement.
Nixon responded to the video interview with this post:

The Packers have frequently listened to Bisaccia when it comes to adding players on special teams, and it seems like adding Nixon was a win-win-win for the organization, Nixon, and the fans.
