Doc Rivers will be reuniting with Patrick Beverley now that the Milwaukee Bucks have traded for the veteran guard. Beverley played for Rivers for three years with the Los Angeles Clippers, which only means that these two know each other well.
In fact, it would not be surprising if Rivers played a part in Milwaukee’s decision to bring in the feisty veteran.
Doc Rivers Reacts to Milwaukee Bucks’ Patrick Beverley Trade
The trade isn’t official yet, which means that technically, Rivers couldn’t speak openly about the deal. However, the 62-year-old shared his initial thoughts on the deal, and you could clearly see the excitement Rivers has over this move:
“It can bring a lot,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “A guy that talks on defense, a physical defender, takes a lot of charges. I was saying that instigator would be an understatement, but all those things would be something we would favor.”
Rivers has harped on Milwaukee’s communication on the defensive end, or rather, the lack thereof. He’s already stated that this is one of the biggest issues he wants to “fix” early on in his tenure, and the fact that one of the first compliments he had for Beverley centers around the 35-year-old’s vocal nature says a lot.
Beverley is no star, but it appears that he is set for a significant role in Rivers’ regime — both on and off the court.
