For weeks now, JJ Redick has been on the spotlight as the strongest candidate to become the Los Angeles Lakers’ new head coach. With these rumors pointing to his potential hiring getting stronger, personalities like Milwaukee Bucks’ Patrick Beverley have started congratulating for the former NBA sharpshooter.
Two years ago, the Lakers’ front office let Frank Vogel go after failing to utilize the trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook. This resulted in Darvin Ham being hired as his replacement, a choice that led to a Western Finals Conference appearance against Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets.

Even though they were swept last year by the defending champions, there was hope that Ham can exceed what he did that postseason. Unfortunately, James and the Lakers exited the playoffs early again at the hands of Denver this year. This led Los Angeles firing Ham and finding a replacement for him before James signs up with another team as a free agent.
After their early playoff exit, rumors of Redick, Boston Celtics assistant coach Sam Cassell, and James Borrego as the strongest names to take the job surfaced. Of the three, the former three-point specialist is shaping up to be the strongest candidate.
Milwaukee Bucks Guard Patrick Beverley Reacts To JJ Redick’s Coaching Update

Just recently, various reports have pointed to Redick getting the job from the Lakers. This prompted veteran guard Patrick Beverley to congratulate the former NBA star on X.
“Congrats @jj_redick big time,” Beverley tweeted.
Redick played a total of 15 seasons in the NBA and established himself as a talented shooter from beyond the arc. He has a career average of hitting 41 percent from the three-point line, 48 percent from two, and 89 percent from the free throw line.

It remains to be seen whether Redick will finally get the coaching gig in the coming weeks or not. But with all the signs pointing to this eventuality, including Beverley’s recent tweet, it looks like the ex-NBA star is set to team up with Lakers star LeBron James.
