Although the arrival of All-Star guard Damian Lillard to the team sparked a lot of buzz, fans were still dismayed at the idea of trading Jrue Holiday away. Now that the veteran guard is on his way back to the NBA Finals, fans are not letting the Milwaukee Bucks forget their blunder now.
Holiday first entered the league as the Philadelphia 76ers’ 17th pick during the 2009 Draft. In the 11 years since then, the guard established himself as one of the league’s best two-way players while playing for Philly and the New Orleans Pelicans. During that stretch, Holiday averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
After failing to form a championship-worthy core with Anthony Davis in New Orleans, the two-way guard was acquired by the Bucks in 2020 to reinforce their backcourt rotation. With Holiday running the offense, Milwaukee soared through the regular season with a 46-26 record and won the NBA Finals in 2021 to give the franchise its first ring in over 50 years.
But just last offseason, the front office went in a different direction by trading Holiday away for Lillard to give the Greek Freak an elite-level shot creator instead of a defensive-minded guard. Turns out, the one-time NBA champion found himself playing for the Boston Celtics this season and are on their way back to the Finals after defeating the Indiana Pacers.
NBA Fans Troll Milwaukee Bucks After Jrue Holiday and Boston Celtics Make the NBA Finals
Milwaukee’s decision to trade Holiday away wasn’t completely popular among fans as the move compromised the team’s dynamic just to add a superstar. And with Boston making the NBA Finals, fans have been trolling the Bucks for dropping the ball on their former guard.

“Congratulations to Jrue Holiday. The Bucks traded him; didn’t let him know ahead of time; now he’s headed back to the Finals and they asses got put out in the very first round. Congrats again to the former UCLA Bruin,” Otto Rocket posted.
“Bucks gave Jrue Holiday away .. that’s nasty work lol,” John Henson reacted.

Similar to his run with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, Holiday has elevated the Celtics all throughout the playoffs this year. Over the course of 14 games, the one-time All-Star averaged 12.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest.
Without doubt, Holiday has been fantastic for Boston ever since he started playing for them this season. And while he’s doing good now, the Bucks will have to watch their former star try to win big again in this year’s Finals.
