Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers is wasting no time. Just days after their season came to a bitter end at the hands of the Indiana Pacers in the first round, the tenured shot-caller is already well into making the necessary preparations for what he is hoping will be a very productive offseason for his squad.
Rivers has already divulged said plan with his two superstars, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, and it is clear that both are all in at this point.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Doc Rivers Already Looking Forward to Offseason Work
As they always say, it’s what happens behind the scenes that matter the most. For the Bucks, this will come in the form of their offseason preparation as they look forward to a much more successful 2024-25 campaign.
Speaking to the media in his exit interview on Friday, Rivers shared a preview of what’s to come this summer, particularly on the Giannis and Dame front. The former NBA champion coach sounded off on how a full summer of preparation should work wonders for his superstars, and how both Antetokounmpo and Dame have already bought into the notion:
“It’s great,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of the Athletic. “Think about it, Giannis worked out all summer not knowing he was going to have Dame. Dame worked out a little bit, not knowing he was going to have Giannis. Khris, the same way. Now all three of them get to work out this summer knowing some of the things we’re going to do.
“I told Giannis and Dame I’m going to send them things all summer we’re working on for them to work on. And they both were very excited about that. I’m assuming Khris will like the same thing. That gives us an advantage.”
Let’s not forget about Khris Middleton either, who proved in the playoffs that he still has a lot of gas left in the tank. Middleton did all he could to carry a shorthanded Bucks side in their first-round series against Indiana, and while he put up a formidable effort, it simply just wasn’t enough with Giannis out and Lillard ailing.
A healthy offseason for Middleton should only make the Bucks’ summer preparations even more productive alongside a determined Giannis and Dame. Milwaukee’s Big 3 could look much different next season.
