It’s no secret two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo was close to his late father Charlie. Just recently, the Milwaukee Bucks star paid tribute to his dad by penning a sweet Father’s Day message for everyone to see.
Antetokounmpo’s family has played a pivotal role in his life and remarkable basketball career. Born to Nigerian immigrants in Athens, Greece, Giannis and his four younger brothers were raised with a strong emphasis on athletics and family unity.

Their journey was marked by challenges, as they initially lacked citizenship in any country. However, this did not deter their pursuit of success, with the brothers all being drafted into the NBA. Giannis, in particular, has become a superstar for his exceptional talent and physical prowess.
The family’s athletic legacy extends beyond the Greek Freak, with his parents and older brother also having professional sports backgrounds. This rich tapestry of experiences has undoubtedly shaped Giannis’ character and drive, fostering his close bonds with his loved ones and his determination to excel on the court.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Posts Sweet Father’s Day Message For His Dad

Just recently, the All-Star forward paid tribute to his late father on social media in a post he shared on X.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! Thank you for always being there for me dad 🤎,” Antetokounmpo tweeted.
Tragically, Charles Antetokounmpo passed away from a heart attack in 2017 at just 54 years old. In the years that followed, his sons Giannis, Thanasis, and Kostas achieved remarkable success. The latter earned a pair of MVP awards while the Greek Freak’s other brothers won NBA championships.

Even though he has gone far in life and in the league, the Milwaukee Bucks All-Star never forgot how significant his father is. Without a doubt, the elder Antetokounmpo will always be a shining light to his sons.
