Frank “The Ghost” Martin is set to challenge Gervonta “Tank” Davis for the WBA Lightweight World Title in a couple of weeks. As the hype for this upcoming match goes into higher gear, Milwaukee Bucks All-Star guard Damian Lillard issued a warning for the latter about his opponent.
After defeating Ryan Garcia, Davis is set to make his next appearance on the ring by defending his world title against Martin on June 15. This has been the case since the Baltimore native was placed under house arrest for a hit and run incident. Nevertheless, the champion has a perfect record of 27 wins and zero losses.
On the other hand, Martin boasts a clean record of winning 18 fights without a single loss. However, only a minority has backed up the Ghost against Davis, even though the former is a formidable opponent for the champion. Martin was last seen defeating Artem Harutyunyan.
Apart from Davis facing off against Martin on June 15, the card will also feature David Benavidez going up against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. The said match will be for the WBC interim super middleweight title.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Warns Gervonta Davis About Frank Martin
After giving his take on Tyson Fury’s match against Oleksandr Usyk, Milwaukee guard Damian Lillard assessed the upcoming bout between Davis and Martin. In a post the Bucks star posted on his official X account, the eight-time All-Star warned the champ about not taking the Ghost lightly.
“Frank Martin a real threat. Idc what nobody say… this a very good fight…” Lillard tweeted.
For his part, Lillard has been a lifelong fan of boxing. Ever since he was a child, watching big fights had been a normal occurrence in their family. Even up now, the former Rookie of the Year has integrated boxing into his offseason workouts to help him prepare for NBA games.
It remains to be seen whether Davis will retain the championship or Martin can pull off an upset. In any case, Lillard has already warned what the latter can do well before the two meet in the ring.
