At this point, it would probably be safe to say that the Milwaukee Bucks would not have come out of Sunday’s preseason debut against the Chicago Bulls with a win had it not been for MarJon Beauchamp’s heroics.
On a night that Milwaukee decided to rest their superstars, someone had to step up to the plate. Beauchamp definitely got the memo.
MarJon Beauchamp Stole the Show Vs. Bulls
It was a hard-fought win for Milwaukee as they held off a relentless Chicago side on Sunday’s first game of the preseason. The Bulls Big 3 all started in this one, with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic all getting a good run in their preseason opener.
The Bucks, on the other hand, had Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton, among others, all watching from the sidelines. Enter: MarJon Beauchamp.
The incoming second-year forward did not even start in this one, but he made sure to make a significant impact as soon as he came off the bench. Beauchamp eventually logged a team-high 28 minutes of action, putting up a game-high 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting, nine rebounds, and three assists. The 22-year-old also went 7-of-8 on his attempts from the line, which also included a couple of clutch free throws to seal the game.
It was an eye-opening performance from Beauchamp, who is expected to make a significant leap in his sophomore campaign this coming season.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans React
After a rookie campaign that was pretty much characterized by a lack of opportunities under ex-head coach Mike Budenholzer, Milwaukee fans are now expecting a lot from Beauchamp under Adrian Griffin’s new system. The supporters liked what they saw from the 22-year-old in his preseason debut, and they made their feelings known on Twitter:

The MarJon Beauchamp hype train is obviously on full throttle right now, and we expect it to pick up more steam as the new season starts. Whether or not he will live up to all the hype, however, is an altogether different question.
