The Milwaukee Bucks still have a handful of roster spots to fill up ahead of the new season. They added a couple players to their squad on Monday with this objective in mind. Robin Lopez, the brother of Brook Lopez, who incidentally, also recently signed an extension with the team, rejoins the Bucks for his second stint. Shortly after the Robin Lopez news broke, it was also revealed that Malik Beasley is also headed to Milwaukee on a single-season deal.
Malik Beasley Led NBA In Triples Off The Bench

Malik is no star, but he brings a lot to the table for Milwaukee. In fact, fans will be glad to know that the 26-year-old actually led the league in three-pointers off the bench last season. This comes via StatMuse on Twitter:

That’s actually a very impressive stat from the sharpshooting wing, especially considering how much he struggled with the Los Angeles Lakers following his mid-season trade move from the Minnesota Timberwolves. In 26 games played for LA, Malik drained 2.5 triples per game on a 35.3-percent clip, which actually isn’t all that bad. However, he was even better in Minnesota, going for 3.1 makes from beyond the arc on 35.9 percent shooting.
As the above stat also indicates, the Bucks were second in the NBA in threes off the bench last term, and this was thanks in large part to the likes of Pat Connaughton, Joe Ingles, and Jevon Carter. Both Ingles and Carter have departed via free agency, and Milwaukee obviously need to fill the void that they left. Malik Beasley is the man for the job, and on paper, at least, he seems like the perfect fit.
Bucks Potentially Score A Massive Steal On Malik Beasley Signing

After agreeing to extend the deals of Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez for a combined $150 million, the Bucks did not have much cap room remaining. In fact, the only feasible way for them to complete their roster without going deep, deep into luxury tax is by signing players that would be willing to be paid at the veteran’s minimum. Both Robin Lopez and Malik Beasley fit this mold.
Malik, in particular, could be a real steal for Milwaukee. That is, of course, if they are able to capitalize on his efficiency from beyond the arc. They brought him in for this exact reason, and surely, this will be part of new head coach Adrian Griffin’s game plan.
What makes this deal even sweeter for Milwaukee is that they got Malik for quite a bargain. It’s a low-risk, high-reward move for them — one that the fans are hoping will pay off handsomely in the near future.
