Milwaukee Bucks news: The Miami Heat pulled off a massive trade on Tuesday. This came in the form of Terry Rozier making his way to South Beach in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a future first-round pick.
Rozier is by no means a superstar, but this move could be the one that takes Miami over the hump this season as they look to get back to the pinnacle of the NBA.
Miami Heat Trade for Terry Rozier
The Heat had been working out a deal with the Charlotte Hornets for the past few days. It all came to fruition on Tuesday after it was confirmed that Miami had agreed to terms on a deal to acquire the 29-year-old guard in exchange for veteran Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-rounder.
Lowry, who is on an expiring deal, just hasn’t looked right for the Heat this season. He’s missed a handful of games due to injury, and he’s averaging just 28.0 minutes per game in 37 games played. That’s the least amount of playing time he’s had since the 2009-10 season with the Houston Rockets.
Miami deemed that now was the right time to cash in on Lowry, and they seem to have found an excellent addition to their backcourt in Rozier. In 30 starts for Charlotte this season, the 6-foot-1 combo guard is averaging a career-best 23.2 points on 45.9 percent shooting, to go along with 3.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Rozier is also knocking down 2.8 triples per contest on a 35.8-percent clip.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Catches Strays
For the most part, the fans believe that this was a great move by the Heat. So much so, that NBA insider Bill Simmons believes that it’s actually a better deal than what Miami attempted to pull off this past summer with Damian Lillard.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Simmons pointed out how this move will be more beneficial for Miami as opposed to their botched Lillard deal:
Bill Simmons on Rozier vs Dame landing on the Heat
“They gave up 25% of what they were ready to give up for dame”
“They got to keep Jaquez/ other 1st round picks”
“Rozier is going to give them 80% of the offense Dame does and better defense”

I’m not entirely sure Bucks fans will agree with this notion. After all, Milwaukee supporters are more than happy to remind the Heat about how they failed to lure Dame to South Beach and how well he’s doing now with the Bucks.
