Along with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard was also held out of the Milwaukee Bucks’ practice session on Tuesday. According to reports, however, the decision to give Dame the day off was merely precautionary ahead of what should be a grueling first-round series against the Indiana Pacers.
According to head coach Doc Rivers, Lillard is currently dealing with multiple injuries that could potentially impact his performance against Indiana if they aren’t addressed properly.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Damian Lillard’s Health Status Entering Playoffs
Rivers revealed after Tuesday’s practice that Lillard had undergone tests to check the status of his sore left adductor muscle. The results came back clean, and Dame missing practice on Tuesday was more of the team’s medical staff wanting to give the 33-year-old “a little more rest.”
When asked to clarify if it’s adductor or his groin that’s been bothering Lillard, Coach Doc admitted that it’s both:
“I think it’s that. His Achilles. His groin. We want him to be as close to 100 percent as possible, if you can be that at this point,” Rivers said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
That’s not exactly an encouraging update considering how the Bucks already expect Giannis Antetokounmpo to miss the start of the Pacers series with a calf injury. The last thing they need right now is Lillard suffering (or re-aggravating) an injury.
Taking all this into consideration, it makes a lot of sense that Milwaukee gave their star point guard the day off on Tuesday.
