While Milwaukee Bucks fans may be feeling a bit frustrated by the fact that Khris Middleton is still struggling with his health at this point in the preseason, the fact of the matter is that no one is more disappointed by all this than Middleton himself.
At this point, Middleton is recovering from offseason surgery on his knee, and there appears to be no clear timeline in terms of his availability. Right now, we still don’t know if the three-time All-Star will be available when the Bucks open their season against the Philadelphia 76ers a couple of weeks from now.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Rues Slow Injury Progress
In a recent interview, Middleton was asked to share his thought process amid his current injury situation. The 32-year-old got brutally honest in his response:
“Everything is on pace,” he said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “They took it extremely slow, which was, I think I’ve said this before, not frustrating but annoying just because you feel fine and you want to speed things up, of course, because you feel like superman. But I’ve been on pace for everything thus far. Still on pace with a couple days off because it was planned ahead. Just trying to stay on schedule and make it out there for a couple (preseason) games.”
To be clear, this is not a knock on the Bucks. Middleton is not blaming the team or the medical staff for his prolonged absence. While he has admitted to feeling annoyed by how slowly he has been allowed to progress on his road to recovery, at the end of the day, Middleton understands that this is all necessary.
The Bucks will need Middleton to be at his very best this coming season. The arrival of Damian Lillard puts a lot of pressure on Milwaukee to win a championship this year, and there’s no denying that Middleton and his health will be integral to whether or not the Bucks bring home the bacon this season.
