It has now been well over a month since we last saw Jae Crowder take the court for the Milwaukee Bucks. The veteran swingman underwent surgery on his left adductor in mid-November and has since been working hard on his road to recovery.
Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin recently provided an update on the status of the 33-year-old and Bucks fans will be glad to know that Crowder is progressing nicely.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Adrian Griffin’s Jae Crowder Update
Speaking to reporters ahead of Friday’s clash against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Griffin indicated that Crowder has been making steady progress in his objective to return to the court this season. The 6-foot-6 forward was initially given an eight-week timetable to return, which has him coming back by mid- to late-January.
At this point, it appears that Crowder is still on track to return as initially anticipated:
“He’s getting close, but he’s still a ways (away from returning),” Griffin said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But he’s progressing beautifully. Again, it’s another guy that’s a pro. He’s taking care of all the things he needs to on and off the court, he’s ramping up his workouts. I think he was doing some sprints earlier today so he’s progressing beautifully. But not sure just his exact timetable on when he’s back.”
As Griffin said, the Bucks remain non-committal on Crowder’s target return date, which means that his comeback could be pushed back further. The veteran swingman is no spring chicken and Milwaukee’s coaching staff and medical team are surely going to err on the side of caution as they look to bring him back (well) ahead of the playoffs.
In nine games played this season, Crowder has averaged 8.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 26.7 minutes per contest. He’s also knocked down 1.8 triples per game on a highly efficient 51.6 percent clip.
