Milwaukee Bucks news: The Indiana Pacers were quickly able to avenge their NBA In-Season Tournament championship game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. This came in the form of a 131-123 win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday, thereby removing a bit of the bitter taste that was left in their mouth after failing to bring home the NBA Cup.
Indiana will be out to make it two wins in a row on Wednesday when they take on the Bucks, who for their part, will also be looking for some revenge.
Indiana Pacers’ Injury Report Vs. Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks certainly have a point to prove against Indiana after Tyrese Haliburton and Co. disposed of them in the semifinal of the IST. For their part, the Pacers will want to prove that their upset victory over Milwaukee was no fluke as they look to establish themselves as a serious threat in the Eastern Conference.
The bad news for Indiana is that they will be without one key rotation player on Wednesday night. This is after they listed second-year combo guard Andrew Nembhard as out due to a right knee bone bruise. Nembhard obviously isn’t a star, but he’s played a crucial role for the Pacers this season, which was also the case against the Bucks in the semifinal.
Apart from Nembhard, the Pacers have also listed Jalen Smith as out for Wednesday’s contest.
Andrew Nembhard’s Role in IST Win Vs. Bucks
On Thursday against the Bucks in Las Vegas, Nembhard finished with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting, two assists, a steal, and a block in just 14 minutes of action. The 23-year-old was forced to exit the game after suffering a knee injury, which has since kept him out of action for the Pacers.
Despite the modest numbers, Nembhard actually had a significant impact on the Bucks game on both ends of the floor. He flexed his defensive abilities against the likes of Damian Lillard, while also providing a much-needed punch on the offensive end during a crucial stretch in the third period.
“Andrew Nembhard gave us a big lift in the third quarter when we were reeling,” Indiana head coach Rick Carlisle said, via Henry Krueger of FanNation. “[Milwaukee’s] zone was a problem. He helped us get the ball in the basket three or four straight times.”
While Nembhard will be missed, the fact that Tyrese Haliburton will be suiting up should be enough compensation for Indiana.
