Giannis Antetokounmpo did not only score a career-high 64 points on Wednesday’s 140-26 win over the Indiana Pacers. The seven-time All-Star also shattered the Milwaukee Bucks scoring record, which was once held by the great Michael Redd.
It was a long time coming and Giannis finally came through on Wednesday night.
Milwaukee Bucks Legend Michael Redd Shouts Out Giannis Antetokounmpo
On November 11, 2006, Redd dropped a career-high 57 points in a truly memorable performance. It was unlike any other scoring feat the franchise had seen in the past, bettering even the likes of Brandon Jennings and Hall of Fame big man Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Well, Giannis left all of them in the dust on Wednesday after being the only player in Bucks franchise history to eclipse the 60-point mark:

Being the class act that he is, Redd sent a heartwarming congratulatory message for Giannis shortly after Giannis’ historic night:

As Redd so gracefully noted, records are there to be shattered. The former Milwaukee All-Star shooting guard is clearly honored by the fact that it was Giannis Antetokounmpo who took his scoring title.
Be that as it may, this does not by any means undermine Redd’s status as an all-time great for the Bucks.
Giannis Fulfilled a Two-Year-Old Promise
An old video of a memorable Giannis and Michael Redd interaction from 2021 surfaced in the wake of Antetokounmpo’s majestic performance. In it, Giannis is seen telling Redd that he would one day break the latter’s scoring record:
Giannis to Michael Redd in 2021: "One day I'm going to break your record"
Giannis broke it tonight.

Antetokounmpo is clearly a man of his word and while it may have taken a couple of years, he still delivered on his bold promise.
