Giannis Antetokounmpo made franchise history on Wednesday night for the Milwaukee Bucks by scoring 64 points in a single NBA game against the Indiana Pacers. Milwaukee won that contest over Indiana by a final score of 140-126.
The previous Bucks’ franchise record was held by Michael Redd, who scored 57 points in a single game against the Utah Jazz back on November 11, 2006. Antetokounmpo always wanted to break that total and he finally did it.
What was so impressive about his point totals in the game is that he didn’t score a single basket on a three-point shot. His domination in the paint was like when Shaquille O’Neal used to play for the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000s alongside Kobe “Bean” Bryant.
Antetokounmpo was 20-of-28 (71.4% from the field) and he also was 24-of-32 (75.0% from the free throw line). His other stats in the game was also grabbing 14 rebounds, recorded three assists, blocked one shot, and recorded four steals.
Because of his points dominace once again, he is now averaging 32.0 PPG in the NBA this season which is ranked third. This is the fifth consecutive game that Antetokounmpo has scored 30 or more points in a single NBA game and is contuining his NBA MVP campaign for this season.
With the win, Milwaukee improves to 17-7 on the year and the Indiana Pacers drop to 13-9 on the season. These two teams just met less than a week ago in Las Vegas, Nevada for the NBA in-season tournament semifinals where Indiana took down Milwaukee in that contest.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the first NBA player to score 60 points in a game without making a three since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000.

There will be many more times this NBA season where Antetokounmpo will be scoring 30 or more points. He is one of the most dominant players in the NBA on a night-to-night basis. There can be a time down the road where he breaks his own 64-point game franchise record. This was a historic night for the franchise and they hope more of these nights will happen down the road.
