Milwaukee Bucks fans had to hold their collective breath during Tuesday’s quarterfinal showdown against the New York Knicks. Not only was it a close encounter — in the first half, at least — but what caught the attention of supporters early on was Giannis Antetokounmpo suffering a bit of an injury in the first quarter.
The former back-to-back MVP has now broken his silence on the knock and thankfully, it doesn’t sound like this is going to be a problem moving forward.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Speaks Out on Injury
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Giannis stated that there is indeed a bit of concern surrounding his left ankle:
“It feels good,” Giannis said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Obviously, a little bit sore today, but it is what it is. You get some treatment, you sleep a little bit, ice it, elevate it, hopefully it feels better tomorrow.”
For what it’s worth, Antetokounmpo played through the injury on Tuesday to finish with a 35-point, 10-assist double-double against the Knicks. His ankle looked fine.
Below is the exact play when Giannis injured his ankle after stepping on Julius Randle’s foot after a tip-in:

It is important to note that Giannis, who is celebrating his 29th birthday today, is NOT on Milwaukee’s injury report for Thursday’s do-or-die showdown against the Pacers. This obviously bodes well for his chances to play in the semifinal, but at this point, there’s just no guarantee.
It would not be surprising if Antetokounmpo suddenly pops up on a later update of the injury report.
