Damian Lillard and the rest of the Milwaukee Bucks got a first-hand look at what Toronto Raptors rising star Scottie Barnes is all about. The third-year wing turned in another impressive performance on Wednesday night as he helped the Raptors dominate a struggling Milwaukee side en route to a 130-111 blowout win.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Heaps Praise on Scottie Barnes
Barnes dropped 21 points on the Bucks on an efficient 8-of-16 shooting from the field. The former Rookie of the Year also added 12 rebounds, five assists, a steal, and two blocks in another all-around performance for Toronto.
The most outstanding part of his strong play against Milwaukee, however, has got to be his hot hand from distance. Barnes isn’t exactly known for his ability to knock down treys, which is why Bucks star Damian Lillard just had to take notice of the fact that the Raptors youngster went 4-of-6 from distance on Wednesday night:
“He’s got extreme potential,” Lillard said, via Aaron Rose of FanNation. “Obviously if he shoots the ball the way he shot it tonight, that’s another weapon that he has to his game. But the size, the versatility, you know, he handles, he rebounds, he defends, he does everything. When you’ve got a guy like that. As long as he continues to get better it’s going to be trouble for a lot of people.”
Dame knows a thing or two about being a threat from beyond the arc, so you could say that he’s an authority in this matter. Lillard has also played with and against some of the best young talents this game has ever seen, which is why his high praise of Barnes here speaks volumes of the 22-year-old’s potential.
As Dame said, Barnes is going to be a problem in the NBA for the years to come.
