Milwaukee Bucks news: There were mainly two superstars that dominated headlines in the offseason in terms of them finding a new home. The first one was Damian Lillard, who after an 11-year tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers, decided it was finally time to take his talents elsewhere.
The other is James Harden who up until today, continues to still be a member of the Philadelphia 76ers in spite of the fact that the former league MVP has already made it abundantly clear that he no longer wants to play for Philly.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard’s Situation Was Unlike James Harden’s
In a recent interview with Melissa Rohlin of FOX Sports, Lillard himself stated that he honestly believes his previously concluded trade saga with the Portland Trail Blazers is not similar to all the James Harden drama in Philly:
“My situation is not the same as James’ situation,” Lillard said. “…I don’t have any anger or anything like that toward anybody. I feel very free. I’m stepping into a new thing. I feel free. I’m happy to be here. I’m excited to be on a good team with a real opportunity to win a championship.”
For starters, it is clear that Dame believes that there is now animosity between Harden’s camp and the Sixers. You can’t blame Lillard for thinking this way considering how Harden made this obvious when he called 76ers president Daryl Morey a “liar.”
It’s also important to note how fondly Lillard spoke of his new situation in Milwaukee. As he said, not only does he finally feel free from all of the things that were previously holding him back, but more importantly, he is now in a great position to win the first-ever championship of his decorated career.
No Bad Blood
Lillard does not deny, however, that his Portland exit resulted in a bit of conflict between himself and his former team. The 33-year-old was probably referencing his relationship with Blazers general manager Joe Cronin, who played a pivotal role in Dame not getting his wish to join the Miami Heat.
Be that as it may, Lillard is also adamant that no bridges were burned:
“And I also think because of how everything happened, there are some relationships that won’t be the same,” he said. “But I don’t think that there are hard feelings, if that makes sense.”
You can’t really say the same things about Harden and the Sixers.
