Damian Lillard didn’t shoot well in the first two games of Doc Rivers as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. But the inefficient stretch of Lillard was expected to end at some point, and it finally did on Saturday when he helped the Bucks pull off a stunning 129-117 come-from-behind victory in enemy territory over Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Lillard’s performance was one to remember, especially for Rivers, as Dame’s explosion was a huge reason why he’s no longer winless at his new job.

Damian Lillard Stuns in Milwaukee Bucks’ Win vs. Mavs
The Bucks entered the Dallas game having gone 0-2 in Rivers’ first two games and in both of those losses, Lillard had a combined shooting splits of just 14/36 from the field and 5/17 from behind the arc. Those are not ideal for one of the Bucks’ major offensive weapons. Fortunately for Lillard and the Bucks, he snapped out of his slump before the end of the week with an incredible offensive showing versus the Mavs, going 10/11 from the field and hitting all five threes from long-range distance.
That kind of shooting success is hard to sustain and will not stand for long, but it offered Rivers a firsthand look as head coach of the Bucks of the immense potential of Milwaukee’s potential when Lillard is in his bag.
