After missing a couple of games due to personal reasons, Damian Lillard came back to lead the Milwaukee Bucks in a big win against the Detroit Pistons.
The All-Star point guard exploded last Saturday night by posting 45 points, six rebounds, and 11 assists. Lillard achieved these numbers by hitting 54 percent from the field, 45 percent from deep, and 100 percent from the free throw line.
Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 31 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists to help the Bucks get over Detroit, even if the All-Star forward suffered a shoulder injury. In the end, the duo of Lillard and Antetokounmpo worked well to keep their team in the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.
Damian Lillard Drops Honest Take on Detroit Pistons After Leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a Win
After the game, Lillard got real on what the Pistons did wrong against the Bucks by saying he made them pay for their aggressive defense on him.
“They were just really aggressive on the ball,” Lillard said. “They tried to be up into my body. … In the film that I watched last night with my trainer, we just talked about just moving. Moving my body with the ball more, instead of just trying to get off screens. Moving the defenders around. And just giving myself space to be able to attack downhill and to just cause a little bit of confusion. And I thought I did a better job of that.”
Lillard’s performance helped the Bucks stay in the second seed in the East, just behind the Boston Celtics. And with him back in the lineup, Milwaukee is finding its momentum right before the All-Star Weekend commences next month.
In any case, opposing teams will have to do their homework when they face the partnership of Lillard and Antetokounmpo, especially when they visit the Bucks’ homecourt. With the postseason looming, it would seem that Milwaukee has a good chance of making it far in the coming months.
