Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism throughout the early part of the season. Simply put, the seven-time All-Star just hasn’t been the same Dame we’ve all gotten to know during his time with the Portland Trail Blazers. I’m pretty sure Lillard himself will admit this.
Well, it was totally different on Wednesday night as Dame led a Giannis Anteotkounmpo-less Bucks side to a massive win over the Toronto Raptors, 128-112.
Damian Lillard Carries Milwaukee Bucks to Victory
Lillard came out with a vintage performance on Wednesday night. It wasn’t exactly a mind-blowing outing for the former Rookie of the Year winner, but it was one that Bucks fans have been longing for.
Everything went through Lillard on Wednesday. He was aggressive from the get-go and he just kept it going all game long.
Dame attacked the Raptors defense at every turn, resulting in a 37-point scoring outburst from the 33-year-old. He also made sure to keep his teammates involved, though, and the fact that he dished out a season-high 13 assists is a clear testament to this fact.
After the game, big man Brook Lopez had nothing but high praise for his point guard. According to Lopez, this is exactly the Dame Lillard we’ve all been waiting to see:
“That’s the Dame we all know,” Lopez said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “It was great to see him in a good rhythm, comfortable out there and leading the team. He did a great job leading us offensively and making sure everyone was in their spots, getting people involved and just being himself.”
The Bucks return to action on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets, followed by a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Lillard will go up against two of the top point guards in the game today in LaMelo Ball and Luka Doncic, respectively, so you can be sure that both of those matchups are going to be must-see basketball.
