It was Giannis Antetokounmpo who made headlines for the Milwaukee Bucks as they took down the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, 108-102 — and rightfully so. The former two-time MVP led the charge for his team in their incredible come-from-behind victory that saw them steal away a win after being down by as much as 26 points.
Giannis, however, was not the only hero of the day for Milwaukee.
Bobby Portis Plays Key Role In Milwaukee Bucks’ Comeback Win
While he may not have been the star of the show against the Blazers, there’s no denying that Portis once again played an integral role in the victory. The veteran big man finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and three blocks, while also going 2-of-5 from his attempts from deep. It was another massive performance off the bench for Portis.
After the win, Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin just had to give Portis his flowers. Once again, the 28-year-old proved just how important he is for Milwaukee.
“His energy is contagious. He plays with great passion. The crowd loves him, we love him,” Griffin said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Bobby, he comes in and he’s like our X-factor. He can do it all. He can post up with his back to the basket. He can get on the offensive boards. He can space the floor. He hit a couple big threes. He’s out there defending.”
The Bucks have a real gem in Bobby Portis, and they know it. He has been one of the most consistent players for the squad this season and at this point, there are no signs of Bobby Buckets slowing down anytime soon.
