The Milwaukee Bucks got Malik Beasley back on Tuesday night for their home game against the San Antonio Spurs. This is after the veteran shooting guard missed the last couple of games due to a non-COVID illness.
Beasley was re-inserted back into the starting lineup against the Spurs, which also meant that rookie Andre Jackson Jr. was relegated to the bench after starting the last two games for the Bucks.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Speaks Out on Andre Jackson Jr.’s Recent Run
In his two makeshift starts over the weekend, Jackson responded by averaging 9.5 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, while also knocking down 1.5 triples in 31.1 minutes per game. It was a nice preview of what this kid can do when he gets the chance — something that head coach Adrian Griffin agrees with completely:
“He’ll be in the rotation,” Griffin said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “He did a tremendous job in the last couple games. It’s a long season. I think, just for me, just finding ways to find him minutes on the floor. And we have guys in and out, it’s part of the NBA, but I think he’s doing his part. You can only control what you can control and I think he’s going in there and playing extremely well, playing extremely hard, lots of energy, attention to detail, and he’ll learn the league. And he’ll learn personnel. That’s common for a lot of first-time NBA players, rookie players, but we’re all extremely pleased with his progress so far.”
Jackson Plays Well Vs. Spurs
Jackson may have moved back to the bench in Tuesday’s 132-119 win over the Spurs, but it did not prevent him from being productive in his limited run. In 15 minutes off the bench, the 22-year-old recorded seven points, two triples, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Jackson isn’t likely to take over Beasley’s (seven points and four rebounds in 28 minutes) starting gig anytime soon, but the rookie is definitely making a name for himself of late.
