The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs are both in their first spring training with new managers. Craig Counsell shockingly signed with the Cubs last fall and as a result the Brewers appointed former bench coach Pat Murphy as their new skipper. On Wednesday, February 28 the two teams met for the first time.
February 28 Spring Training game score: Chicago Cubs 6, Milwaukee Brewers 1.
In the first of three Brewers and Cubs spring training match ups the Cubs won by a score of six to one. Harold Chirino was tagged with four earned runs for the Brew Crew whereas Enoli Paredes and Rob Zastryzny each gave up one run. Despite this being Milwaukee’s fourth straight loss following the game Pat Murphy was not concerned.
“Again, we’re playing guys that might be in Double-A. We’re playing guys that might not be with the Brewers. We’re not playing to win, even though I joke about it. We’re playing winning baseball. I hope we win; that feels better. But this has no effect

Willy Adames and Craig Counsell embraced one another with a hug and an exchange of words.
For several seeing Craig Counsell in Chicago blue was weird, but Brewers shortstop Willy Adames made a point to see him. Adames said, “Every time I see him I’m going to go say hi, because I’m always grateful.”
