The Milwaukee Brewers head on the road this week to begin a four-game series at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y., against the reeling New York Mets. Milwaukee enters this series on the outside looking in for a playoff spot. The Brewers are just 0.5 games back of first place in the NL Central from the Cincinnati Reds.
Milwaukee Brewers Travel to New York To Take On the Mets
Entering this series, New York has yet to win a series in the month of June. They are swooning, and this is the perfect time for the Milwaukee Brewers to take a series from a very bad baseball team. The Brewers are 40-37, and the Mets are 35-42. New York is in fourth place in the NL East, and they are tied for the third-worst record in the NL with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Milwaukee Brewers will have a massive advantage in the starting pitching department in this series against the New York Mets. The probable pitching matchup for Monday will be Colin Rea (3-4 record, 4.88 ERA, 54 K) for Milwaukee and Justin Verlander (2-4 record, 4.50 ERA, 44 K) for New York.
As for the rest of this series, it will be: Julio Teheran (2-2 record, 1.53 ERA, 23K) vs. David Peterson (1-6 record, 8.08 ERA, 45K) on Tuesday, TBD for the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Kodai Senga (6-5 record, 3.52 ERA, 93K) for the New York Mets on Wednesday, and TBD for Milwaukee on Thursday vs. Max Scherzer (7-2 record, 3.95 ERA, 76K) for the Mets on Thursday.
Even though the Milwaukee Brewers don’t have some starting pitchers named yet for this series, it can’t be worse than New York’s rotation has been so far this season.
