This is the final Milwaukee Brewers farm report of the week. It has to start somewhere for players trying to make it to the Big Leagues, and this is the lowest level of the Brewers’ farm system. The Carolina Mudcats is the Single-A team for Milwaukee. They have a 34-34 overall record on the season.
Carolina is currently in the middle of a series with the Down East Wood Ducks, who is the Single-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Who are some of the players to keep an eye on in Single-A for the Brewers farm system from here on out?
Milwaukee Brewers Farm Report: Single-A Carolina Mudcats
Luis Lara (OF)
Luis Lara was signed on June 3, 2022, as an international free agent in the Brewers farm system and is ranked 12th in their farm system. He is only 18 years old, is a switch hitter, and throws right-handed. Lara is an outfielder from Venezuela. Lara is 5’7″ and weighs 155 lbs.
They will take their time with him, and he isn’t projected to reach the Majors until 2027. Luis Lara will probably spend the rest of the year in Single-A. Lara has played in 40 games so far this season in Single-A for the Carolina Mudcats. He has a .303 batting average with two home runs and 12 RBIs, along with 14 stolen bases and seven caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage is also .415. Lara still has plenty of time to develop power with the speed he possesses.
Hedbert Perez (OF)
Hedbert Perez is the 16th-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system. He is 20 years old and is projected to reach the Majors sometime in 2025. However, it feels as if his development hasn’t gone as planned, as Perez was signed as an international free agent on July 2, 2019.
Perez has played in 53 games so far this season for the Carolina Mudcats. He has a .202 batting average with five home runs and 23 RBIs, along with eight stolen bass. Hedbert Perez also has a .286 on-base percentage.
Luke Adams (3B)
Luke Adams is currently not ranked in the Brewers farm system but could be a player that works his way up in the organization. He could have a chance to make his way up, but it will be a while, if Adams ever gets to the Big Leagues. He is only 19 years old and was a 12th-round pick (372nd overall selection) in the 2022 MLB Draft.
Adams has played in 55 games so far this season for the Carolina Mudcats. He has a .232 batting average with seven home runs and 30 RBIs, along with 19 stolen bases. His on-base percentage is very high at .413. An almost .200 point differential in batting average and on-base percentage is wild. That means that Adams is also very good at working the counts.
Tyler Wehrle (P)
Tyler Wehrle is probably the top pitcher currently on the Carolina Mudcats. The Milwaukee Brewers did not draft this player. Wehrle is 23 years old and hopes to make his way up through the farm system to give himself a chance.
In 13 games pitched so far this season, he has a 5-3 record with a 3.86 ERA. He has pitched in 49.0 innings and has given up 42 hits and 27 runs. Wehrle has walked 17 batters and has struck out 51 batters. He has recorded one save and also has one complete game. His WHIP is 1.20. Tyler Wehrle hopes to be a late bloomer in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. starting here with the Carolina Mudcats.
