Milwaukee Brewers sophomore Brice Turang is off to a great start to the 2024 season. The left-handed hitting second baseman had more downs than ups from an offensive standpoint last year, but cemented himself as one of the league’s best defenders. This year he has continued to excel defensively but is also hitting and stealing bases.
Brice Turang is currently leading the league in stolen bases.
Entering play on Tuesday, April 16 Brice Turang is leading the league in stolen bases with eight. The Brewers are just 15 games into their season, but so far the speedster is being aggressive on the base paths. Along with this he is also getting on base at a good clip that includes a .333 batting average.
This off-season the Milwaukee Brewers second baseman started using a new baseball bat.
One obvious change from 2023 to 2024 is that Brice Turang is using a different baseball bat. His current bat has a giant knob at the end that is referred to as a puck knob. This is an aid that hitters will use in order to get more control of their swing by changing the balance point closer to the bat’s handle.
A blunder with the mail service led to Brice Turang changing bats this off-season.
On The Mayors Office Brice Turang was their special guest and he covered a lot of topics from the puck knob, his hitting philosophy, stealing bases, and how Christian Yelich has taken him under his wing. One interesting thing Turang shared was that after last season ended his bats got lost in the mail. As a result he had to borrow a friends when he wanted to start hitting and that is how he grew to like the puck knob.
