Sal Frelick sets Milwaukee Brewers franchise record.
Against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, July 28 Sal Frelick played in his sixth career game. He finished the night 2-4 with one walk. With three more additional times on base he set a franchise record for the number of times on base through six career games with 13 times on base.
According to StatHead the previous franchise record for the number of times on base through six games was 12. This was set by B.J. Shurhoff in 1987. Jim Gantner reached base 11 times in 1976 and then Paul Molitor, Dan Thomas, and Joey Wiemer are all tied at 10.
There is a lot to like about Sal Frelick’s game and his ability to get on base should continue to be a strength of his. He is a contact oriented hitter, has a lot of speed, and is very disciplined at the plate. Hopefully he is able to continue building upon his strong start to his MLB career and help Milwaukee compete for the National League division title.
