Milwaukee Brewers fourth ranked prospect Robert Gasser received three opinions on how to manage his elbow. Two different orthopedic surgeons recommended Tommy John surgery whereas the other suggested rehab. Gasser has elected to go with his third opinion and will have surgery Monday, June 24.
Which surgeon did Robert Gasser choose to perform the Tommy John procedure on his elbow?
Dr. Keith Meister is the surgeon that Robert Gasser chose. Dr. Meister has performed elbow surgery on players like Tyler Wells, Felix Bautista, Sandy Alcantara, Jacob Degrom, Eury Perez, Spencer Strider, and many others. He also performed shoulder surgery on Brandon Woodruff last off-season. At this time it is unknown as to exactly what type of procedure will be performed as recent trends have also included an internal brace in addition to reconstructing the ulnar collateral ligament.
Manager Pat Murphy comments on Robert Gasser undergoing Tommy John Surgery.
Pat Murphy provided some of his thoughts on the news of Gasser undergoing season-ending surgery. He talked about how one thing Gasser and the organization can take away is that his stuff plays in the big leagues. Murphy called this knowledge a win for both Gasser and the Brewers.

How will the Milwaukee Brewers fill out their starting rotation with Robert Gasser officially done for the season?
Injuries to starting pitchers has been a never ending issue for Milwaukee this season. With Wade Miley, Brandon Woodruff, and now Robert Gasser all officially not returning this year the Brewers are going to have to rely upon multiple players to fill that void. Tobias Myers has pitched well as of late, Carlos Rodriguez is just getting his feet wet, and it’s possible that all these injuries prompts the organization to promote Jacob Misiorowski to the big leagues.
Another option is for the Brewers to add externally via trade. Garrett Crochet and Jesus Luzardo are two players that they could look to target but others such as Jack Flaherty, Erick Fedde, Luis Severino, Tyler Anderson, and Trevor Williams are also options.
