A huge three-game series will begin on Tuesday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, between the Baltimore Orioles and the Brewers.
At this moment, both teams would be in the MLB Playoffs if the season ended today.
Milwaukee Brewers Lock-In on the Resurged Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles currently have a 37-22 record in the American League and sit in second place in the American League East. Baltimore is currently the fourth seed. They trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 4.5 games for first place.
As for the Milwaukee Brewers, they currently have a 32-28 record in the National League and sit in second place in the National League Central. They trail the Pittsburgh Pirates by 0.5 games for first place in the division. Milwaukee is currently the sixth seed.
The projected pitching matchups for this three-game set between the Baltimore Orioles and the Milwaukee Brewers will be:
- Tuesday: Kyle Gibson (7-3 record, 3.89 ERA, 47K) vs. Freddy Peralta (5-5 record, 4.62 ERA, 61 K)
- Wednesday: TBD for the Baltimore Orioles vs. Corbin Burnes (4-4 record, 3.75 ERA, 66 K)
- Thursday: TBD for the Baltimore Orioles vs. Colin Rea (3-3 record, 4.94 ERA, 40 K).
It seems this series could be a high-scoring affair in all three games. Both of these ball clubs have good bats, but the pitching seems to be a concern on both sides still. Who are some of the players the Milwaukee Brewers should watch for in this series against the Baltimore Orioles?
The top hitter in Baltimore’s lineup up to this point this season is first baseman Ryan Mountcastle. He has a .235 batting average with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs, along with two stolen bases in 58 games played. Mountcastle has a .709 OPS on the year.
Catcher Adley Rustchman is one of the leading candidates to be the starting catcher in the MLB All-Star Game for the American League. He has appeared in 58 games so far this season for the Baltimore Orioles and has a .285 batting average with eight home runs and 28 RBIs, along with one caught-stealing attempt. Rutschman has a .837 OPS.
Outfielder Austin Hays is another player to watch for on this Orioles team. He has a .301 batting average with six home runs and 24 RBIs, along with two stolen bases. Hays has a .828 OPS so far this season for the Baltimore Orioles also.
This is a huge series for the Milwaukee Brewers that they will need to salvage against the Baltimore Orioles.
