The Milwaukee Brewers have been active during the 2024 international signing period as their latest number of signings was up to 18 players. This year the Brew Crew was provided a pool of $6.52 to spend on international prospects and similar to years before they went with a quantity approach. However, they did sign three prospects ranked within the top 50.
One player that Milwaukee signed is a 16 year old shortstop from Venezuela. He is a twitchy athlete who has the skills to stick at shortstop while also hitting for contact from both sides of the plate. According to Brewers beat reporter Curt Hogg he has star potential.
Top Milwaukee Brewers 2024 international signee Jorge Quintana has star potential.
At 16 years old there is still a lot of development left for Jorge Quintana, but right now he is viewed as one of the most advanced hitters in the class with a plus-hit tool, good gap power, solid plate discipline, and is super athletic.
Quintana is a pure hitter. He’s a switch hitter with a smooth, loose swing, particularly from the left side, with a real chance to grade out with a plus-hit tool. He manipulates the barrel well to get it to the ball and swings with a trajectory that should help him avoid hitting too many fly balls.
Quintana should hit for a high average at the lower levels of the minors, with plate discipline and added power potential being the two factors that will determine how high he can fly on offense.

In years past the Brewers have not been afraid to challenge their international prospects by advancing them through their system quicker. Jackson Chourio skipped the Arizona Complex League and was sent from the Dominican complex to Single-A in his second year. Luis Lara recently followed that same path and it is possible that Jorge Quintana will as well.
