The Milwaukee Brewers previously had outfielder/designated hitter Jesse Winker on a minor league rehab assignment. He was initially placed on the IL at the end of July with low back spasms and on Sunday, September 3 he reached the maximum number of days that a position player can spend rehabbing back from injury.
With him nearing the end of his minor league rehab assignment this meant the Brewers would have to active him and place him on the 26-man roster or decide to part ways with him. Turns out that he unfortunately sustained a lower leg injury and has been placed back on the IL.
Milwaukee Brewers Jesse Winker has been placed back on the IL with a quadriceps injury.

Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported this news on Jesse Winker. He indicated that he injured his right quadriceps on Friday while in Triple-A Nashville and was heading back on the injured list. No time table for return was provided.
This season Jesse Winker has not performed well at the major league level. The 2021 All-Star was hitting under .200 and had just one home run over 166 big league at-bats. While in Triple-A on rehab assignment he was starting to find a groove at the plate for over 16 games he had a 1.035 OPS with 15 hits, three home runs, and 15 walks.
With less than one month to go and Jesse Winker reportedly sustaining a soft tissue injury it seems unlikely that he will make a return to the Brewers this season, but more information regarding the severity of his injury should be available in the coming days.
