How great has Jackson Chourio been for the Milwaukee Brewers? Let’s just say that the 20-year-old phenom just did something that no other player in the history of the big leagues had done before — except the Great Bambino himself, the legendary Babe Ruth.
Via OptaSTATS:
“Jackson Chourio of the @Brewers is the second player in MLB history to hit 2 game-tying homers in a postseason game. The other was Babe Ruth in Game 4 of the 1928 World Series.”
Jackson Chourio is the gift that keeps on giving for the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2024 MLB playoffs
Facing elimination against the New York Mets at home on Wednesday night, Chourio put his team on his shoulders and delivered. He hit a game-tying solo home run in the first inning off of a sinker from Mets starter Sean Manaea.
Then with the Brewers trailing by a run again in the eighth inning, Chourio slammed another solo blast, taking a cutter from Mets reliever Phil Maton deep to level the score at 3-3. That home run gave Milwaukee a boost and set up the dramatic two-run homer by Garrett Mitchell to give the Brewers a 5-3 victory.
So far in the series, Chourio has gone 4-for-8 with two home runs, 3 RBIs, and just a strikeout.
Thanks in large part to Chourio’s heroics, the Brewers remain alive in the 2024 MLB playoffs. Milwaukee and the Mets will play the final game of this National League Wild Card Round Series this Thursday.
