The Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to nine games on Monday night with a dominating 6-2 victory over the second place Chicago Cubs. Four home runs were hit in this game with both sides hitting two a piece, but a four run Brewers first inning was ultimately too much for the Cubs to overcome.
Throughout the course of the game Milwaukee’s pitching staff was excellent. Starting pitcher Wade Miley covered the first six innings and gave up four hits. Elvis Peguero, Joel Payamps, and Hoby Milner finished the game with just one hit being accumulated during that time. Remarkably throughout this game the Brewers pitching staff managed to pull off an insane statistic.

Despite the Cubs scoring two runs in this game, both off of solo home runs, they never managed to have an at-bat with a runner in scoring position. It is not that often that a team fails to log an at-bat with a runner in scoring position, so it is of statistical significance.
Also worth noting is that Cubs batters grounded out on 15 occasions in this game. The Brewers got some nice defensive plays out of their infielders in which in particular Willy Adames had a very nice inning ending diving grab in the eighth inning.

Game two between the Brewers and Cubs will take place on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM CT. Corbin Burnes will take the hill in that game and go up against Cy Young candidate Justin Steele.
