The Milwaukee Brewers and Gary Sanchez reportedly agreed to a deal on February 7. All free agent deals are pending physicals and occasionally restructures occur when issues arise. Until recently the holdup was believed to be related to an issue with his physical, but now a report from Ken Rosenthal has confirmed that suspicion.
There was concern regarding the right wrist of Gary Sanchez.
Last September Gary Sanchez took a 98 MPH heater to the right wrist resulting in a fracture. This prematurely ended his season in which he was a bright spot in a disappointing San Diego Padres season. Per Ken Rosenthal the Brewers had some concern regarding his right wrist and that was the holdup on his physical.
The Milwaukee Brewers-Gary Sanchez deal is finally nearing a completion.
An official announcement from Milwaukee has not been made yet, but it is believed that the Brewers and Sanchez were able to come to terms on a new agreement. Per Rosenthal Sanchez will be accepting a lower base salary but with incentives that would enable him to earn the original $7 million that was agreed upon prior to the physical.
