The news just keeps getting better for Milwaukee fans. Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers won the NL Central Division title, Wednesday the Milwaukee Bucks traded for superstar Damian Lillard, and now the Brewers just announced on Twitter that Garrett Mitchell has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list. In response to that move, Brian Anderson has been designated for assignment.
Garrett Mitchell is BACK For the Brewers
Garrett Mitchell has missed the last four and a half months due to a shoulder injury that resulted in needing surgery. The outfielder only played in 16 games with the crew before being put on the IL. There were a lot of questions as to when or if Mitchell would be back in time for the postseason run. Now that the Triple-A season has come to a close, Mitchell can make his return to the big leagues.

It had been reported by many that Mitchell could’ve made his return on Tuesday, but Brewers fans saw that he was just back in Milwaukee and hadn’t been activated yet.
In eight games with the Nashville Sounds on a rehab assignment, Mitchell slashed .188/.257/.250 with a triple and three stolen bags.
Having Mitchell back in the lineup, especially as the Brewers look to make that postseason stretch will be huge for them on both sides of the field. Since joining the crew in August 2022, Mitchell has slashed .286/.341/.462 in 130 plate appearances.
Brian Anderson Designated for Assignment
When Brian Anderson initially joined the major league roster, he was on fire. But, injuries put his performance at a halt and since returning in August, he’s just been unable to perform the way he did before taking a trip to the IL. The Brewers decided to part ways with Anderson, designating him for assignment.
Since returning from the IL, Anderson had only played in three games. However, the emergence of Andruw Monasterio and adding the bat of Josh Donaldson has added more consistency and offensive production that the team was looking for that they weren’t exactly getting out of Anderson. Surprised this move didn’t come sooner, but the postseason is coming, and manager Craig Counsell needs the best players on the roster.
