Former Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes will be playing the 2024 season as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. This occurred as a result of him being traded for two current MLB players and a 2024 draft pick. The 29 year old has been with the Brewers organization since being drafted by them in 2016, so it will be strange to see him orange and black next year instead of blue and gold.
Throughout the past six to seven years a lot has transpired with Burnes both as a player and personally. He came up as a highly regarded prospect, struggled mightily in 2019, blossomed into an ace, won a cy young award, covered eight of nine innings pitched during a combined no-hitter, and welcomed his son into the world while with the organization.
Following his trade announcement to the Baltimore Orioles, Corbin Burnes gave a genuine thank to the Milwaukee Brewers organization, the city, and the fans.
“I want to thank the fans and thank the organization. It is the only organization that I have been a part of up until this point. They gave me a chance out of college, they gave me a second chance after 2019 when I struggled so bad. We had a lot of winning seasons and good baseball over there. I felt honored to be a part of the best stretch of baseball in Brewers history. To have that many winning seasons, to go to the post season that many times, and we had a really good thing going up there. Each year it seemed like we were one piece away or one big game away from going all the way.
I loved every minute of being in that city. The people in Milwaukee and the mid-west are great and treated me great. It’s definitely a time that me and my wife loved. My son got to spend a couple years that so it’s a place that will always have a special place in our heart, and hopefully when we get to visit there we can visit our favorite restaurants and see all the people we made special connections with over the years.”
